The new field will be known as the Crace Grassland
Flying Field. This title describes both the location and the environmental
values of the site. The field is within the Crace Nature Park.
The hill with the trig station just east of the site is Crace
Hill.
The field is located off the southern end of Hoskins
Street.
To reach the field take the track off to the left just after the
bend at the end of Hoskins Street.
BMAC members may access the field at any time seven
days a week (special conditions closures excepted). If you are
planning to visit us, you are most likely to find members flying
on weekend mornings.
A few basic restrictions apply at the new field.
These are as follows:
The boom gate must remain shut at all times.
The purpose of this is to prevent unauthorised access to the CUPP
storage area. CUPP are concerned about illegal dumping on their
land. This is a problem and could also become a problem for us.
We will have to pay for the removal of any material dumped on
our site.
Please follow the track and park in the Car Park area up hill
of the shed. Please DO NOT drive vehicles on the former grassland
area.
Noise restrictions apply at the new field. This means that all
aircraft flown at the new field need to be noise tested and certified.
Another essential part of the noise restrictions is the area where
aircraft operate. All internal combustion powered aircraft must
fly in front of the runway, keeping maximum clearance from the
Crematorium.
Toilets and town water are now installed at the new field. Please
use common sense.
The adjacent grassland is part of the Crace Nature Park and must
be respected. We are permitted to enter this area to retrieve
aircraft but we should keep our use of this grassland to a minimum.
Foot traffic only!
We have not received approval from CASA to fly above 400 feet.
An application has been lodged but until we receive CASA approval
the ceiling of 400 feet applies.
The basic layout of the field is shown on the attached
drawing.
